Rain washes pollutants into storm drains and directly into our lakes, rivers and the ocean. So what can you do?
The Clean Water NJ website (www.cleanwaternj.org/) has plenty of helpful information about what you can do around the house, in the garden, and in the community to help reduce the amount of harmful contaminants in our water.
Passaic County has adopted the following resolutions required by the state. Please feel free to download and read the Fair Housing Program and Citizen Participation Plan.
Council meetings air on PVTV (Cablevision Channel 77, FIOS Channel 22) every Tuesday Night at 7:30 pm. Streamable video recordings of the meetings may also be viewed from our Council Meeting Videos page.
Reminder to Residents about Snow Removal
The Department of Public Works would like to remind residents that they are not permitted to put snow from private property onto the Township roadways or sidewalks. Section 223.2 of the Township code, prohibits any owner, tenant or occupant of any premises abutting on any street from throwing, placing or depositing any snow or ice into or upon the sidewalks and streets of the Township.
The recent heavy, recurring snowstorms have caused a huge problem with people having their driveways plowed. The private plows are pushing the snow out into the roadway and across the street, leaving a large snow bank along the side of the roadway. This in turn hampers our ability to plow the snow back. There are also individuals who in the course of clearing their driveways are in the habit of throwing snow in the street.
The DPW appreciates your cooperation in this matter. Thank you. More...
