October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The City of Clifton is promoting National Mammography Day by urging women to take responsibility for their breast health. National Mammography Day, first proclaimed by former President Bill Clinton in 1993, is held every third Friday of October. This year, it will be held on October 21, 2016. Mammography is the best available method to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage-an average of one to three years before a woman can feel a lump. Mammography also detects cancers too small to be felt during a clinical breast examination.
