PSE&G Prepared for This Week’s Hot Weather

With temperatures expected to be in the 90s this week, Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest utility, is monitoring weather conditions and has additional personnel on hand to handle any power interruptions as a result of the high temperatures. The utility’s call centers also have extra personnel on duty to speak with customers, and additional appliance service technicians are scheduled to assist with air conditioner repairs.

NJDOT Traffic Project Updates

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is undertaking a project to reconstruct the Route 3, Route 46, Valley Road and Notch/Rifle Camp Road Interchanges to correct existing operational and safety problems along the Route 3 and Route 46 corridor as these existing problems have resulted in a high occurrence of accidents and chronic bottlenecks. Construction for Part A of the project is anticipated to continue until July 2018. The contract for Part B is in the Final Design Phase.

The Clean Water NJ website (www.cleanwaternj.org/) has plenty of helpful information about what you can do around the house, in the garden, and in the community to help reduce the amount of harmful contaminants in our water.

Calling all Artists and Crafters: Historical Morris Canal Heritage Artisan Festival set for Sunday, August 28

Little Falls ABC Presents an Artisan Festival at the Historic Morris Canal Park from 9:30 am-5 pm on Sunday, August 28. It promises to be a wonderful day. Events include a White Tent Historical Event. 70 artists, crafters, sculptures, wood crafters and more will exhibit and sell their works. There will be musicians walking the pathway and an Art Teacher teaching children art on another path along with their exhibits. Food will be available. There will be historical tours of the canal area and history of the canal.

Artists and Crafters are encouraged to apply to display and sell their work. The deadline for applications is August 21.

Young Writers’ Workshop Continues through August 4th

Join professional writing consultants from Montclair State University’s Center for Writing Excellence for a five week creative writing workshop. Workshop will meet on Thursdays from July 7th to August 4th at 4 PM at the Little Falls Public Library. Free Adult Eye Screening on Tuesday, August 23rd

The Clifton Health Department & Project B.E.S.T. (Better Eye Health Services & Treatment) will host a FREE Vision screening for Clifton and Little Falls residents on Tuesday, August 23rd from 10 am until 2 pm at Clifton City Hall, 2nd Floor 900 Clifton Ave, Clifton NJ 07013. This screening will be examining participants’ visual acuity and screening for glaucoma. No prescriptions will be given. The screening will be conducted by trained vision screeners funded by the State of NJ Dept. of Health & Human Services’ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI).

Music & Play Class starts at the Rec Center on Tuesday, September 13th

This class will explore some of the benefits of music which include improving early literacy skills, quantitative skills, social & emotional skills, physical skills, and skills in creativity. The class includes musical games, instrument play, singing, free play, and dance. This is a 45 minute class, for children 4-5 years old, and will be held every Tuesday, starting September 13, 2016, at 6:15 PM. The cost is $80 for 8 weeks, and will be held at the Little Falls Recreation Center, 160 Paterson Ave, Little Falls.
