Recycling Guide
RECYCLABLE ITEMS
Appliances and Metal – Refrigerators, stoves, washers, air conditioners, fencing, etc. can be dropped off or picked up (a fee of $5.00 per item for pickup) paid in advance at the Recycling Office, 70 Sindle Ave. (DPW facility) or Municipal Building, 225 Main St, or mailed to the Township of Little Falls, 225 Main St., Attn: Recycling Dept. Pickups will be made within a couple days once fee is paid
Car Batteries – May be dropped off at the Recycling Center. See attendant for disposal
Cardboard – (curbside collection – see schedule for dates) Place in recycling compactor truck marked for cardboard. Cardboard consist of corrugated cardboard and chipboard (cereal, macaroni, and shoe boxes etc.) Clean pizza boxes are recyclable. Do not include any wax coated cardboard packing materials or plastic.
Clothes – Clothes may be placed in donation boxes located at the Recycling Center
Commingled Containers (curbside collection – see schedule for dates) (containers cannot weigh more than 40 lbs) – Rinsed glass food and beverage containers (no window glass), tin and bi-metal cans, aluminum cans, and plastics marked with #’s 1,2,5 only can be put in recycling roll-offs marked for commingled items. NO plastic bags allowed to be used in recycling. LOOSE MATERIALS MUST BE PLACED IN CONTAINERS.
Electronics – TVs, Computers, monitors, telephones, VCRS and DVD players, stereos, etc. may be dropped off at the Recycling Center in the electronics box. Residents may also schedule a pick-up of these items by calling (973-256-6815). There is a $5.00 each pick up fee for TV’s larger than 35 inches and/or console TVs.
Grass and Leaves – will be collected in paper biodegradable bags only (Do not place in street). Section I will be collected on Monday. Section II will be collected on Tuesday. (must be at the curb by 6 a.m. and not weigh more than 40 lbs.) Bags will be collected until there is snow on the ground. Residents can also drop off their grass and leaves at the Recycling Center in the marked area. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Loose leaves are not permitted to be placed in the street.
Holiday Trees – Trees will be picked up curbside during the month of January as weather and schedule permits. Residents can also drop them off at the Recycling Center in the marked area.
Paper – Place in roll off container marked for paper. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Mixed paper shall consist of newspaper, magazines, junk mail, telephone books, office paper, brown bags, etc. (curbside collection – see schedule for dates.)
Paints, Motor Oil, Chemicals, Propane Tanks, etc. – We are not permitted by law to accept these items. Do not transport or bring these items to the Recycling Center. Please call the Passaic County Office of Recycling at 973-881-4506 for disposal information
Tires – Auto tires and small truck tires may be brought to the Recycling Center on
Sindle Ave. Fees: Car tires - $4.00 per tire Truck Tires - $15.00 per tire
Tree Branches – You must call 973-256-6815 to be put on the schedule for pick-up. Branches must be no longer than 10 feet in length, stacked neatly with the cut ends all facing the same way. Branches 3 feet or smaller must be bundled. Branches must be placed by the curb where accessible, but NOT IN THE STREET. No roots or tree stumps are permitted.
