Test your home today! Passaic County is giving out free radon test kits. Kits will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. UPDATE: Radon test kits will be available at the Little Falls Municipal Building on Thursday, September 7, 2023 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. They can also be obtained Monday through Friday at 930 Riverview Drive, Suite 250 in Totowa between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Radon Information:
- Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas formed by the decay of uranium in rock, soil and water
- It can accumulate in the home
- Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer
- Testing is easy
- The NJ Department of Environmental Protection recommends all NJ homeowners test for Radon
- If levels are elevated, homes can be mitigated to reduce radon levels
- In New Jersey, all radon testing and mitigation businesses and professionals must be certified
