The North Jersey District Water Supply Commission is implementing a tree removal program within 15 feet of NJDWSC’s aqueduct, which runs under the Morris Canal parking lot.
The tree removal was based upon an engineering infrastructure study which recommended this action to provide long term protection of the aqueduct and the associated water supply.
The work is commencing this week and tree cutting work will be completed by April 1, 2018 due to environmental restrictions placed on the work by US Fish and Wildlife Service. It may be possible that trees may be felled as the deadline approaches and are removed from the site a short time afterward.
